WHAT WE OFFER

  1. JAZZ
    A commercial style of dancing that incorporates technique such as kicks, turns & leaps and is great for developing flexibility and fitness. Often associated with musicals such as Chicago or Fame. Jazz is also the style used by many pop stars and often features in pop concerts, opening ceremonies and music videos of artists such as Britney Spears.
  2. TAP
    Tapping is a fantastic way for your child to learn rhythm, musicality and make music with their feet. Classes progress in a way that allow skills to be slowly built upon from level to level. Tap is offered as a class from ages 5 and up.
  3. BALLET
    Classical Ballet draws on specific technique that gives you a full understanding of your body. The class which follows the CSTD syllabus focuses on building strength, flexibility and core stability and is recommended for all dancers to build a strong foundation of technique.
  4. HIP HOP
    Hip Hop is a broad category that includes a variety of urban dance styles. Constantly evolving from the earlier styles of breaking, locking & popping, hip hop is a free, funky and soulful expression of movement used by artists such as Usher, Ne-Yo, Chris Brown & Rihanna.
  5. LYRICAL
    Combines the techniques of jazz, contemporary and ballet. Lyrical invites dancers to use their bodies to interpret the music. While mainly choreographed to music with lyrics "lyrical" generally refers to the expressive melodic and highly emotional quality of dance. Dancers gain fluidity of movement, grace and control.
  6. CONTEMPORARY
    In class students will train the body following its natural anatomical alignment, in order to give it strength and flexibility. Students learn to safety turn, jump and fall in different ways, as well as developing spinal contraction and release, curves and spirals. Students will develop a great awareness for their body, and focus on developing a flexible and powerful body they can use to explore space and time.
  1. ACROBATICS
    With a focus on stretching, strength conditioning and flexibility, our acrobatics class will develop core strength as well as teach basic lifts and balancing positions. Throughout the year dancers will move into tumbling, starting with handstand and cartwheels and progressing at their own rate into the higher level skills.
  2. CHEERLEADING
    Cheerleading is a sport that has grown dramatically over the past few years. Cheerleading combines dance and acro into a high energy routines that incorporates dance, acro skills, stunts, jumps and general team spirit. Cheerleading classes are separated on experience and ability to ensure classes are safe and students can progress through.
  3. GYMNASTICS
    Womens Artistic Gymnastics is the perfect sport to teach your daughter co-ordination and confidence, develop creativity and contribute to her general health and fitness. It involves floor, bars, beam & vault. Known for enhancing body awareness and balance while also developing healthy minds and bodies for now and later in life.
  4. MUSICAL THEATRE
    Musical theatre is a form of theatre that combines songs, spoken dialogue and dance. The story and emotional content of the piece plays an important role in this class. If your child has a flair for the dramatic, then this class is for them!
  5. KINDER GYM
    A movement based program for students aged 2-5 which allows children to learn whilst at play. Designed to give children as many opportunities as possible to optimise brain development and increase physical potential before they go to school. KinderGym offers a wide range of movement experiences from rolling, jumping, hanging and running.
  6. TINY TOTS
    These classes are for our little beginner dancers aged 2-5. We have two class options, the tiny tots combo class that includes a mix of Jazz, Ballet & Hip Hop as well as our acrobatic arts preschool program. We make learning dance fun by including interactive songs & games to develop coordination. Our little dancers love coming to class to use their imaginations and make new friends.
COMPETITIONS
EXAMS
CERTIFICATE II & III IN DANCE
All students at Cheer & Dance Intensity are given the option to compete as a part of our competition team if they fit the age groupings and wish to compete. We have two compulsory competitions a year, one in Perth and the other in Geraldton. We also offer optional competitions for those students who wish to compete more throughout the year. At competitions, you are just expected to arrive on time and be ready to perform! Competitions are meant to be fun and are a great learning opportunity for all the students. 
Cheer & Dance Intensity have two exam periods throughout the year. All students are invited to partake in the exam of their level if they wish to do so - however, they are not compulsory. All students will still learn the work for the exam but do not have to sit it if they don't feel comfortable. In 2019 we will be offering exams in Acrobatics (April) as well as Jazz, Tap, Classical Ballet, Musical Theatre & Hip Hop (September). Our acro exams are done through Acrobatics Arts and all other exams follow the CSTD syllabus, both Internationally recognised.
